What the service is

Chess Universe is a mobile game published by Kings of Games d.o.o., a studio founded in 2019 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, according to its company page (kingsofgames.net) and its privacy policy (chess-universe.io/privacy). PocketGamer.biz reported on 18 August 2021 that the game soft-launched in late 2019 and went global in March 2020. It offers online games (bullet, blitz, rapid), a play-versus-computer mode built around themed islands of 120 opponents each, more than 1,000 advertised lessons, daily and seasonal quests, and a play-and-earn layer with "Guardians" companions and relics (chess-universe.io, whitepaper.chess-universe.io). The business model is free-to-play with ads: the French App Store listing shows gem packs (EUR 3.69 to 9.99), a weekly VIP at EUR 5.99, a monthly VIP at EUR 11.99 and ad removal at EUR 5.99; the website sells Guardians at $39.99. Google Play reports over 10 million installs. The service does not import games played elsewhere, provides no weakness diagnosis or themed exercise bank, and has no playable web version: the website portal only manages the Guardians inventory. Revenue and headcount are not published.
