Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA — vercel.com (contact: privacy@vercel.com). The project configuration pins the execution region of its server functions to fra1, that is Frankfurt, Germany, so page rendering, API routes and scheduled jobs all run inside the European Union.

Application data is stored by Neon Inc. (neon.tech), on servers located in Germany (eu-central-1 region), within the European Union.

Two caveats, stated plainly rather than left out. First, the delivery network that serves public files (cached pages, images, stylesheets, browser code) is worldwide by design, so a public file may be served from a point of presence near the visitor, outside the European Union. Second, generating the social sharing image is the one site function that runs on that worldwide network instead of in Frankfurt, and it reads no personal data.

The Stockfish evaluation service, which computes position analysis, is hosted by Render Inc. (render.com). It only ever receives chess positions in FEN notation: no username, no email address and no account data is sent to it. Its execution region is not pinned by the repository configuration and may sit outside the European Union.

All site content (text, analysis, design and the ChessPivot brand) is protected by copyright and trademark law. Any unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.

Game data comes from Chess.com and Lichess via their public APIs and remains the property of their respective owners.
