What the service is

Chessy is a mobile AI-coaching app. The App Store and Google Play listings name an individual, Elazar Stefansky, as the developer; the privacy policy (chessyapp.com/privacy, updated 29 March 2026) names no company, gives only a Gmail support address, and no country is published. The founding date is not documented: the oldest versions visible in the App Store history date from May 2026 (1.4.6 on 13 May, 1.5.0 on 26 May). The app reads the public game history of a Chess.com or Lichess username, extracts recurring patterns (openings you lose in, pieces you keep hanging, accuracy drops), shows a dashboard (accuracy, blunders, win rates, peak performance times) and a "Rating DNA" profile, generates puzzles from the positions where the player actually hung a piece, offers more than 80 openings as move-by-move walkthroughs with traps, and delivers every Sunday a weekly report written by a large language model (Anthropic’s Claude, named in the policy). The business model is the "Chessy Pro" subscription: $7.99/month, $49.99/year or $79.99 lifetime after a 3-day free trial; the Google Play listing lists free features (openings, traps, bots, daily puzzle, 3 personalised puzzles per day). No PGN import, no web version, no named analysis engine, English only.
