Undefended piece left under attack
And you — how often have you allowed it?
Import your games: ChessPivot flags every time this pattern cost you material, and trains you to fix it.
What is it?
A hung piece is one of your pieces left under attack without being defended (or not enough): your opponent takes it for free. It’s the single most common cause of lost games at every level.
How it happens
It happens by moving a piece without seeing it’s attacked, by moving a defender, or by opening a line that puts one of your pieces under fire. Often it’s a lack of a systematic check after the opponent’s move.
