← Trompowsky Attack
Duda, J. – Sarana, A.
2758 2019 · White wins (resignation, time or agreement)
A 2019 Trompowsky: Duda (2758) takes on f6 at move three, and Sarana (2663) accepts the doubled pawns. For a long stretch the engine sides with Black, but everything flips around move 40: 40...Be2 misses the chance and swings the evaluation from -1.9 to -4.6. The slide then comes in steps, 48...Re5 from -4.6 to -8.2, and 49...Kxg6 from -8.0 to -15.0. Duda lets some of it back: 47.Rd8+ drops from +6.9 to +2.1, and 52.Qh4 from +15.0 to +7.8, without ever surrendering the game. Final accuracy 92% against 88%, and White wins. The takeaway: once a position turns, sloppy moves keep costing pawns of evaluation.
