Radjabov, Teimour – Ivanchuk, Vassily

2793 2013 · White wins (resignation, time or agreement)

Radjabov (2793) against Ivanchuk (2757), 2013: a Leningrad Dutch where Black plays 8...Ne4 early and takes on the structure after 10.bxc3. White presses on the d-file and the long diagonal, and the game turns into a heavy trading sequence around 22.Rd8 and 23.Rxe8+, with queens, rooks and bishops leaving the board in quick succession. The engine flags no turning point at all: neither side commits the single error that flips a position. What decides it is consistency, 86% of at least good moves for White against 75% for Black, and Radjabov takes the point. The lesson: in an unbalanced structure, a small edge in accuracy, move after move, is enough to win without any spectacular blunder from the opponent.
