Williams, Si1 – Sargissian, G.
2457 2014 · Black wins (resignation, time or agreement)
Williams (2457) chose the Trompowsky against Sargissian (2690) in 2014: 2.Bg5, the capture on f6, and Black living with doubled pawns and open files. White castled queenside, pushed g4 and opened lines; Black stacked the rooks on the f-file and landed Rxf2. The turning point is move 25: 25.Qc6 swings the evaluation from 0.0 to -3.8. A holdable position became lost in one move. Qxb5 and Nb6 followed, and Black brought it home, 0-1. Accuracy: 90% for White, 100% for Sargissian — one slip is enough when the opponent gives nothing back. The lesson: in a balanced but tense position, check your own safety before you activate the queen.
