A King’s Gambit in 2018: Morozevich (2665) picks the rare weapon against Anand (2776), who takes with 2...exf4 and hits back in the centre with 5...d5. Both sides played tightly — 91% at least good for White, 93% for Black — yet the balance was long gone by the endgame, where Black held a decisive grip. The most instructive stretch is a run of missed chances on both sides: 39.Rc2 slides the evaluation from -6.4 to -15.0, and 39...Qc5+ pulls it back from +15.0 to +9.1 from White’s point of view. Later 44.Ne3+ drops again, from -6.5 to -15.0. The takeaway: a winning position still demands accuracy, since every loose move hands back ground. Black won.
