After 4.g3 Ba6 and the central break 14...c5, the position stays sharp but balanced, with White’s knights sitting on b5, c4 and e5. Then comes the turning point: 18.Ncd6 is the mistake that swings the evaluation from +0.2 to +1.7 — in Black’s favour, since the scale is from White’s side. Giri answers 18...Bc6, the liquidation that follows leaves White no counterplay, and White resigns after 27...Kg7. Accuracy: 85% for White, 96% for Black. The lesson: with three pieces already committed forward, one more "active" move can cost everything.
