Queen’s Gambit

Radjabov, T.Artemiev, V.

2747 2023 · Draw

Queen’s Gambit, Semi-Slav lines, 2023: Radjabov (2747) against Artemiev (2701). Both sides follow well-trodden theory — 5.Bg5, 8.Rc1, then 9...dxc4 and 10...b5 to free the bishop on b7. The game simplifies steadily: queens come off on move 28, and each further trade steers play toward a rook endgame where pawns disappear one by one. The engine found no turning point at all — no decisive error, no missed chance. The numbers say the same: 92% of White’s moves at least good, 90% of Black’s. Control outweighs invention here. The takeaway: in a structure this balanced, a draw isn’t a failure of ambition but the logical product of two accurate defences.
