Pridorozhni, A. – Paravyan, D.
2579 2016 · Black wins (resignation, time or agreement)
Bird’s Opening, 2016: Pridorozhni (2579) against Paravyan (2528), a long game both sides handled well — 85% of White’s moves at least good, 89% of Black’s. The balance held until move 33, when 33.Qd5 swung the evaluation from 0.0 to −1.6 and handed Black the initiative; he pushed his c-pawn at once with 33...c3. Once the queens came off, the bishops-versus-knight ending stayed grim for White, and 60.Nb3+ let a chance slip, from −6.6 to −15.0. The takeaway: in a level position, an active-looking queen move can cost the game — and a lost ending still needs defending, not accelerating.
