← Grünfeld Defense
So, W. – Giri, A.
2815 2017 · Black wins (resignation, time or agreement)
A classical Grünfeld from 2017: So (2815) against Giri (2785), with queens off early after 12...Qxd2+ 13.Kxd2 and both kings walking forward in the resulting endgame. The engine flags no turning point at all: So played 100% at least good moves, Giri 86%, with one inaccuracy and one missed win logged but nothing that flipped the game. The shift came by accumulation: after 25.Rxc8 Rxc8 the black rook infiltrated with 28...Rc3, 29...Rh3 and 30...Rxh4, and the rook trade on 33...Rxd1 left bishop against knight. Giri steered that ending to 53...Be3 and took the full point, 0-1. The lesson: high accuracy on both sides still leaves endgames to be decided by piece activity.
