Dominguez Perez, L. – Caruana, F.
2749 2024 · Draw
Dominguez Perez (2749) and Caruana (2804) met in 2024 in a Sicilian Najdorf where Black chased the bishop at once with 6...Ng4, then grabbed space with 8...g5. White castled queenside and pushed in the centre, e5 followed by capturing on d5, while Black’s queen swung over to the queenside. The finish is a perpetual: the black queen shuttles between a3 and a5, the white king between d2 and c1, and the point is split. The engine found no turning point at all — both sides played 92 % moves rated at least good. The takeaway: in these sharp structures one slip would decide it, and here neither player slipped.
