Wang, Hao – Timofeev, Artyom
2722 2010 · White wins (resignation, time or agreement)
A classic Sveshnikov from 2010: Wang, Hao (2722) against Timofeev, Artyom (2677), with the familiar structure after 10.Bxf6 gxf6 and pieces flying early. The queens come off on move 31, and the rook ending turns into a pure accuracy test: White 89% of moves at least good, Black 84%. The first swing is 38...Rd2, a missed chance that pushes the evaluation from +0.6 to +2.6 for White. Two moves later 40...Ke8 makes it worse, from +2.8 to +4.4, and Black’s position no longer holds. Club takeaway: in rook endings one passive move can turn an unpleasant defence into a lost one. 1-0.
