After 2.c3 d5 Black recaptured with the queen, and the game turned into an open structure where White manoeuvred the knight via a3-c4-a5 and then doubled rooks on the c-file. Trades on that file (20...Rxc2, 21.Qxc2) left Black still holding on — until 26...Ra8, when the evaluation swung from -0.7 to -5.6, and 27.Rc7 settled matters. Accuracy: 93% for White, 77% for Black, the gap driven mainly by that single rook move. The takeaway: with an enemy rook eyeing an open file, every passive retreat has to be calculated, not played on instinct.
