2730 2018 · Draw

Catalan, 2018: Vitiugov (2730) against Navara (2741). Black grabs on c4 at move six, White builds in the centre with 13.e4 and 17.d5, and the queens come off with 21.Qxc3 Qxc3. What follows is pure technique: a White passer pushed all the way to d7, bishop against knight, and a Black king that walks over to collect it before the kingside pawns burn off. The engine flags no turning point at all: 98% accuracy for both sides, no slip either way. The draw arrives naturally after 60...Nxg5. The takeaway: when neither player errs in a minor-piece endgame, equality isn’t forced, it’s simply confirmed — accuracy is built move by move.
